Our First Anniversary

It's hard to believe that yesterday we celebrated our 1st anniversary. Time flies! It's been a wonderful year. These are some things I've learned ... my husband is paranoid about food going bad, he can't stand to hear the sound of anyone brushing their teeth, and I can tell where he's been in the house by where lights are left on! :) I'm sure he could make his own list, but alas ... he's not into blogging! :) In all seriousness, this year has been full of changes and adjustments, but I wouldn't change it for anything! We are becoming a better team each and every day and we joke about how we will look back and laugh at all these "little things" we worked through with each other. The things that caused me to fall in love with him are still the things that I treasure today. We feel truly blessed by God to have found each other.

Baby STUFF!!!

Well, I'm currently sitting in our office... soon to become our nursery. It's mid-transition right now, but I think the baby stuff is winning! :) Jim and my brother got the crib together and in the nursery today, so it's in the middle of the room. The computer is still in here, along with our pre-baby stuff, as well as the baby's dresser, rocking horse, and the random gathering of clothes, books, etc. that have started to make their way to our home. I knew the "stuff" was coming, but I can't believe it's here! It does make me think of all there is to be done, but I'm super excited! Baby "stuff" is so much fun!

The baby is a ...

BOY!
We are so excited! I wish I had the words to describe it all, but I'm exhausted because I woke up at 4:00 this morning and couldn't sleep! I was too anxious to find out the news! He was laying on his little tummy in the ultrasound and weighs almost a pound. He wouldn't move from his tummy position for the ultrasound, so we didn't get all the information they like to have... we will have another ultrasound in four weeks to finish up all the info, but everything looks good. I'm now going to try and get some sleep... too bad I can't sleep like him... the tummy position is one of my favorites! :) It's all worth it! :)

Father's Day!

Today is Father's Day and we wanted to celebrate our wonderful dads! I love this picture from our wedding because while our moms were very excited about the wedding and all its' details, you get the "picture" that our dads were not so much! :) But, they got dressed up, took lots of pictures, and never complained once! (At least not to me!) :)

While he sure didn't complain, it was hard to find a good picture of just my dad and I from the wedding. This is us walking down the aisle. I'm not sure why he's not smiling ... you would think he would be thrilled to get me off his hands! :) In all seriousness, I wanted to take just a minute and recall some of my favorite "dad moments" from growing up. I remember slipping in a parking lot when we were on vacation at the beach. Instinctively, I reached out for the nearest tree to catch my fall, but not being a tropical girl, I realized too late that I had grabbed a palm tree and my hands slid down what seemed like the entire tree. Ouch! I still remember the MANY splinters I had in each hand. Dad patiently and lovingly sat and removed every single splinter, somehow making me calm enough for that procedure. But Dad could always make me calm, even at my worst moments. And with two girls growing up, let me tell you he had a lot of dramatic, uncalm moments to handle! :) He would sit beside me, put his arm around me and help me take ten deep breaths. I still think of that even now when I get worried or upset about something. Funny, how things stay with you, isn't it? On one of those beach vacations, I also vividly remember Dad helping me find sand dollars. We would go out in the ocean and Dad would dig his feet in the sand and let me use his leg to guide me down to the ocean floor to find sand dollars. He even broke his toe doing this when a huge wave knocked us over! I still have some of those sand dollars that we found that day. I can't part with them because it always reminds me of my father's love. Truth be known, he doesn't particularly like the beach. I'm sure on that day, he would have really just wanted to be reading his book, back in the air-conditioned hotel room, but because he loved me, he took me out in the ocean to find sand dollars. As a child, I also loved the nights when Mom got a night out, and Dad would keep us! He would play a game with us after we ate. If any child got out of their seat he would chase us and try to get us with the dishtowel. This entertained us immensely! I could also tell you about the four college years that he drove six hours to unload my stuff up many flights of stairs in the hot summer, just to return each May to pack up everything. There's not enough space to tell you all the wonderful things about my dad, but I adore him and wanted to celebrate him today! Happy Father's Day Dad!
This is one of my FAVORITE pics from the wedding! I'm so blessed to now have a father-in-law. I know that Jim loves and respects his father tremendously, but your not going to get a post about childhood memories from him! :) I will say that Jim has told me many times how much he appreciates his parents' support of all his sports. The many practices, games, tournaments, etc. that involved was tremendous and he's very grateful for all their help. He also has great memories of the items that his dad built for him as a child. I appreciate all the many house projects his father does for us whenever he comes to visit! Happy Father's Day Dad!

Boy or Girl ???

I thought it would be fun to take a survey of everyone's predictions about our baby. So go ahead... let's hear your idea... is it a boy or a girl?

First Blog Post

Well, this is my first post on our new blog! I AM SO EXCITED! I have avidly followed my dear friends' blogs for years and feel like even though many miles separate us, I have been a part of their everyday life through reading their blogs. I now hope to do the same thing! There are so many exciting changes going on in our lives right now. Mainly... waiting for our first precious baby! We find out in less than a week if our baby is a boy or girl and the anticipation is building! We are trying to narrow down the name selection (a much harder task than I originally thought it would be) and complete a bunch of projects this summer to get ready for our little one! I'm excited to say starting a blog was on the project list, so I can now check that one off! Also, getting our camera charged and ready to go is on the list, so stay tuned for pictures to come!
