Eight Months!

Owen is now eight months ( okay...actually eight and a half, but things are busy around here! :)  He is sitting up by himself now, army crawling everywhere, and loving to play with everything that is NOT a toy (i.e. paper, cords, Mom's school work, etc.)  He is sleeping about 12 hours at night ( although he is still getting up once a night for a feeding).  He is a GREAT eater.  This is what he has been eating:  Fruits:  bananas, pears, mangoes, prunes, and apples.  Vegetables:  summer squash, butternut squash, green beans, green peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini.  We are going to try yogurt this week.  The only thing he does not like so far is avocado.  Of course, he still likes his cereal (rice and oatmeal).  We are working with water from a sippy cup, but he still loves his bottle!  He loves to be outside and play in his jumperoo.  It is an Olympic event to change his clothes or diaper... he rolls, lunges, sits up, etc.  It is rare that this boy is sitting still!  He loves to sit up in the grocery cart and look around.  He is working on a total of five teeth!  We are loving this age!  Happy Eight Months!

A Tale of Big Boy PJ's and a Bottle Cap

So I put Owen in these cute pj's the other night... he was so adorable in them that I had to grab my camera.

Don't even ask me to explain what this expression was all about!!
I love his cute belly showing!

He  then started to play with his new favorite toy... the bottle cap

I decided that I did not want the bottle cap in my pictures, so I took it away.

Disbelief that I would do such a thing!

Hurt feelings!

Full-blown tantrum! :)

The aftermath...

Forgiveness! :)

Six Kids Later ...

My good college friend, Emily, was in town with her kiddos last week, so Ashley and I met up with them for lunch.  WHAT FUN!!  (and DELICIOUS I might add Em!) And with six kids under six... it was controlled chaos! :)  It's so fun to think back to all those Friday nights in college when we would talk for hours... (only on the Fridays when we didn't have dates of course... ha! ha! )wondering about our futures and now here we are with these precious little ones!  God is good!!

Friends - In all Seasons of Life

Our good friends that have moved to Florida were in town a few weeks ago and we had a get-togther so we could all visit.  Things have definitely changed now that we have all these kiddos!  Before kids we did things like:  travel to NYC, Arizona (remember the oranges, Genise??:), and Gatlinburg.  We went camping, got together every week for favorite tv shows, played all sorts of games, had New Years' Eve scavenger hunts, stayed up late, etc.  Now we take turns changing each other's kids' diapers, feeding babies, keeping an eye on toddlers, etc.  The wonderful thing about these friends is we have fun... no matter what.  It has been so incredible to be able to love on each others' kids.  I'm SO EXCITED that Owen gets to grow up with all these people who love him and will help guide him in the Lord's way.  I fondly remember my childhood friends' parents being like second moms and dads to me... I'm glad we are continuing the tradition! :)

Big Boy Bed

Okay, I know that this is not really a "Big Boy Bed"... it is still his crib... but we lowered the mattress the other day.  I remember when we went to buy the crib and the mattress was this way and I was thinking how far off that would be for us... well that day is here!

Fourth of July

We had a full-packed Fourth of July weekend.  We started off the adventures with my good college friend, Lynsay, coming to stay with us for the weekend.  She had never seen Owen in person, so it was fun for them to meet!

Sunday was church and then Sunday night we went to Jim's Aunt Sue and Uncle George's house to visit with them and Stephen and Holly.  We got home late (Owen's time) and then got up early the next morning for Jim to run in a 5K.  Owen and I went to support Jim and our friend Ryan who were running.

Aunt JuJu joined in the fun!

Here is our sweet friends!

Jim ran the 5K in 30 minutes! :)

While the boys raced, the kids played!

I love this pic of Owen smiling and Dawson looking at him!

Dawson loves his JuJu!  We ended up the day at the pool with friends, but alas there is no pictures because Owen took a two hour nap (YEAH!!) and Mom was too exhausted to think about pictures!

Happy Fourth from our house to yours!
